It's like a jungle sometimes...

On Saturday, the Chicago International Badminton League began their inaugural winter tournament and QUICKIES! was invited to represent.

The competition was tough. Not only did we need to bring our badminton skills, we also needed to have coordinating outfits and a hearty arsenal of trash talk.

Needless to say, we brought it.


Also, it's for a good cause, ya'll. All athletes brought donations and the first weekend raised $123 dollars for CAWC!

Elizabeth Wylder's poetry, fiction, and audio have appeared in several literary journals. In the past, she has been a paralegal, delivered hot dogs, and painted children to look like dalmatians at Walt Disney World. She is currently a co-editor of Lark magazine and an instructor at Triton and Daley Colleges. When she grows up, she wants to play in the NBA.


MARISA PLUMB

Marisa Plumb is a writer who went to art school. There, she learned to create writings that look like performances, videos, and computer programs. She shares them at a handful of Chicago venues – most recently at the Red Rover Reading Series, and at the Beverly Arts Center. She runs a fake company from a cubicle in downtown Chicago.

ERIN TEEGARDEN

Erin Teegarden is the co-founder, co-organizer and emcee of the reconstruction room reading series. Currently, she teaches Literature at Columbia College. She received an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh in poetry and a BA from Indiana University in journalism. She is the founder and former managing editor of the University of Pittsburgh's first online literary journal,nidus. She is a former recipient of the Associated Writing Programs' "Intro Journals Award," and her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in: pms (poemmemoirstory), Conte Online, Lorraine and James, nanomajority, the Bellingham Review, Eye-Rhyme, Sunspinner, Poetry Motel, Liberty Hill Poetry Review, and Pittsburgh's City Paper, among others.


KELLY XINTARIS

Kelly Xintaris is rapidly approaching MFA-hood from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work most recently appears in the 2008 issue of Sojourn: A Journal of the Arts, which just came out last week.
