Whatta Mag Whatta Mag Whatta Mag Whatta Mighty Good Lit Mag

SOMNAMBULIST QUARTERLY

Quickies! alum (and inaugural whistlee) Lex Sonne has launched an online lit journal called Somnambulist Quarterly. Based on its extremely solid first issue, the future looks bright for SQ. From the website:

"Somnambulist Quarterly is an online literary magazine based in Chicago. We intend to publish the best literary fiction and poetry from both established and emerging writers. A photo essay will be included in each issue to give the stories and poems some color."

Check it out and submit! Shit is tight.

Ah ssss PUSH IT. PUSH AWP REAL GOOD.

Our severe lateness in putting up this recap post can be explained by the fact that the Quickies! AWP Spectacular blew our minds and we've just waken from the coma. Every. single. reader. was. amazing. To wit:

Mascot Toby Bengelsdorf, reading from the Quickies! Observer

Sean Lovelace (we stole this photo from Sean's blog. We were so flabbergasted by his story we forgot to take a picture. But here he is with Kim Chinquee!)

Robert Lopez (we didn't get a picture of him reading, but here's video of him reading. Uh, at a different event. Buy his book.)

Bitchface McGee

Joe Salvatore (if I had a dime for how many people came up to me to say how much they loved this story, I'd have a shitload of dimes)

Janet Desaulniers

Seriously. It's great to have our motor skills back, but it was all worth it to be able to witness and be a part of such a lineup. Thanks to all the readers, and thanks to the audience, who braved an extremely crowded sweat lodge in order to hear some great short fiction:

And last but not least, thanks to these guys:

See you in March (our year anniversary)!
